About this work
When we moved to our adopted hometown of Hasselberg, we regularly drove along the A7 through the port of Hamburg—and we were often stuck in traffic, giving us repeated opportunities to study the port. The incredible hustle and bustle, the gigantic size of the ships and containers, the loading cranes.
We were able to take a barge directly to the bow of the world's first 400-meter giant, the Ever Golden, and take this photo. How do you emphasize this gigantic size photographically? Thomas "cropped the bow" and let the ship run off the center of the frame... contrary to the usual photography rules, but the effect is achieved.
