Spanning nearly 800 hectares on a peninsula, the Geltinger Birk is Schleswig-Holstein's largest nature reserve. Its landscape is characterized by expansive bodies of water, dunes, and salt marshes and seagrass meadows. Highland cattle and Konik horses are part of the Geltinger Birk ecosystem and help maintain this unique coastal landscape. Around 200 bird species can be observed here throughout the year, including white-tailed eagles.
