Finalist Nexus International Photography Awards 2025 - Drone

The Icelandic highlands are among the largest uninhabited areas in Europe. After what seemed like an endless drive along gravel roads through seemingly lifeless lava landscapes, we arrive in Veiðivötn (which means "fish" and "lake"), an area full of craters and crater lakes. We reach the Hnausapollur (sometimes called Bláhylur) viewpoint. The crater lake here captivates with its blue color—a very popular subject for many photographers.

However, I'm much more interested in the two volcanoes on the other side – many people even notice them. The unusual shape and arrangement, the structures on the slopes with their varying colors, and the land behind the two volcanoes are simply indescribable. Magnificent!
