Stora Fossvatn
Limited Edition Fine Art Print
Iceland Collection
About this work
The Icelandic highlands are among the largest uninhabited areas in Europe. After what seemed like an endless drive along gravel roads through seemingly lifeless lava landscapes, we arrive in Veiðivötn (which means "fish" and "lake"), an area full of craters and crater lakes, the latter very popular for their abundance of trout.
I am fascinated by the lakes, lined up as far as the horizon, with their colorfulness and their contrasts with the surrounding landscape, which changes wonderfully from delicate green to dark black with embedded snowfields, even in poor lighting conditions.
