About this work

The Sigöldugljúfur Canyon is one of Iceland's more forgotten places. One wall of this canyon is the Lekafossar Waterfalls, with lush vegetation that contrasts beautifully with the relatively barren landscape on the other side. Sigöldugljúfur is also known as the Valley of Tears (created by the Lekafossar Waterfalls).

The roads to Sigoldugljufur may be bumpy and the journey long, but you're rewarded with beautiful, untouched nature. The panorama is so beautiful it's reminiscent of ancient Greek art. The turquoise Tungnaá River, countless waterfalls, and lush flora delight every observer.

The tiny curves of the canyon are covered with soft carpets of green moss, forming a striking contrast to the lunar-like landscapes of the highlands.
