About this work
With a length of about eight kilometers and a width of two kilometers, Solheimajökull is an impressive landscape feature. As it is surrounded by the huge Myrdalsjökull glacier without clear distinction, it appears much larger than it actually is.
The nearby Eyjafjallajökull erupted in 2010, causing significant damage to European airports. This is also the reason for the many black and gray areas in the glacial ice—these are all volcanic sediments.
This photograph consists of 16 individual images that have been strung together.
